Make some new friends, see some new sights, and have a wonderful cross-cultural experience... On the weekend of July 4, 2025, we will be traveling to West Central Ohio (about a 4 hour trip from Purdue).
The Travel Plan:
We will be departing from Crosswalk Commons, 925 Hilltop Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47906 at 4:30pm on Friday, July 4, and returning by Sunday, evening, July 6 by 6pm.
We plan to arrive at our destination in Ohio -- the small town of West Liberty -- by 9:30pm. You will have the opportunity to stay with an American host family the two nights we are in Ohio.
Saturday's Schedule:
After having breakfast with your host family, we will begin to see some of the sights West Central Ohio has to offer. In the morning we plan to visit Freshwater Farms of Ohio, a fish farm. We then plan to see the Champaign Aviation Museum in Urbana, Ohio. We will have lunch at a small restaurant near the air museum. Next we will go to a farm for an hour-long ride on a horse at Marmon Valley Farms. We’ll finish our tour around this area by visiting a local candy shop -- Marie's Candies -- before going back to your host family’s home for dinner.
Sunday's Schedule:
We will attend church with our host families (a very interesting cross-cultural experience in a no-pressure environment) and have lunch with them before coming back to Purdue.
The Cost: To cover the expenses of the activities and the travel, the cost for this weekend will be $65/person. In addition, you will purchase your own lunch on Saturday at the Champaign Aviation Museum.
