BIKE LOAN PROGRAM
BIKE LOAN PROGRAM
The SLCF Bike Loan Program has provided free bikes loans to hundreds of international students and scholars at Purdue since 2012.
Thanks to our generous friends who have donated used bikes, we can offer a limited number of students a bike to use during their time at Purdue.
What do I need to do?
What is the difference between the bikes of different deposits?
All of our bikes are functional. Many have gears, while some are only single-speed bikes.
Our $50-deposit bikes work and many have gears. They require the lowest deposit because they are not high-level brands (e.g. Schwinn, Nishiki, Giant), and they show significant signs of wear. Our $50-deposit bikes may be kept outside at night next to your apartment place or dormitory. They may not be kept on campus overnight around non-dormitory buildings.
Our $100, $150, and $200-deposit bikes are higher-level brands and/or they are newer bikes. These bikes must be kept indoors overnight to minimize theft and weather-damage. Note that keeping the bike on your balcony or under a parking roof with no sides does not count as "indoors". It must be in your apartment or closed garage at night.
The difference between the $100, $150, and $200-deposit bikes depends on level of wear and brand reputation.
Whether $50, $100, $150, or $200-deposit, this deposit is refundable if the bike is returned in good condition.
